Its a great security system,
It was easy to set up just connect the cable and there you go, you have a fully functional security system. You can see the images clearly and the night vision works great too. Reason why I gave it a 4 star was because to set it up on my Iphone and Pc was really confusing and i couldn’t get in contact with customer service but after many try and fail i finally got it and I’m please with the results.

Super happy with this purchase,
I have owned camera systems in the past, and recently purchased this Night Owl system and am pleasantly surprised by the level of customer support I have received from them. I was able to reach their 24/7 tech support via phone after I got home from work. 2 things of note, 1st, its awesome that they are open any time as I hate calling from work as this unit is for home, and 2nd, the support wasn’t overseas with someone reading from a training manual (Cassandra was very nice and professional).
The cameras are solid and are simple to install, others I’ve used in the past are cheap plastic. They include a simple 1 page quick start guide that will get you from start to finish, and also watched the how-to videos on the Night Owl website […] which were very helpful.
Ended up calling support and she configured my network settings and got me hooked up on the internet in less than 10 minutes and now I can view all my cameras using my iPhone. The app they told me to download was “Night Owl Lite”…best part about it is it’s FREE.
This is a lot of system and service for such a great price. Will probably be buying another one in the near future for work.

Web interface requires active x controls and incorrect sales infomation,
I wanted a new DVR because my old one required old versions of Internet Explorer and a active X plugin. I was curious about this model since it claims to support IE and Safari. No mention of Firefox or Chrome? I called their sales and was assured it would run in any browser including Chrome with no plugins needed. I should have second guessed ANY browser. By any browser they mean any Internet Explorer browser and Safari if you download a OSX dmg file. Chrome on Linux prompts to download said dmg file. I called their tech support just to be sure, they claimed Internet Explorer was required to do anything.
Also they have a service where to set up web access you must registrar some sub domain on their website. Why is this needed? What if they shutdown? I don’t want any of my private security footage in any way connected to their website!
The hardware seems fine, but I’m returning it due to the poor software it comes with.
