Runs well on MacBook Air (2012) with Mountain Lion, September 6, 2012
This review is from: Eikon Mini USB Fingerprint Reader for Mac (DVD-ROM)
Just got this product today. I had read earlier this week that there’s a new version of the software and driver for Mountain Lion, so I made sure that I downloaded and installed it (you can find it here: […]
Initial enrollment of the fingerprints was pretty straight forward and it was able to read my fingerprints immediately. I am only using the Mac authentication functionalities of the reader, so I have not yet tried the app launch and web login features. But I do use Spotlight to launch apps and other password manager to keep my web logins, so I’ll just use this reader to authenticate into my Mac.
While authenticating, one thing I found is that you can’t swipe your finger quickly right after it prompts for it, as it actually takes a second or two to initialize the reader. Once the reader has initialized, so far it has been pretty accurate.
Definitely something you should look into if you want to have biometric authentication on your Mac laptop.
I’ll provide more updates to this review after I’ve used this for an extended period of time.

I dont know why this is not working for the other reviewer but this fingerprint reader works perfectly for me. It logons into my macbook pro with any finger swipe and I have each finger swipe connected with different accounts. I havent had to swipe my finger more than once because it reads it perfectly and launches the correct application. For $10, this is an absolute steal!

Usually works quite well,
Occasionally the reader is a bit temperamental, but most of the time it works very well. It is compact, sleek and has impressed many friends.
