Digital Persona products utilize optical fingerprint scanning technology for superior image quality and product reliability. The combination of a U.are.U 4500HD (High Durability) Fingerprint Reader with the Digital Persona Identity Engine produces an unmatched ability to recognize even the most difficult fingerprints.

No support from Digital Persona whatsoever…,
Digital Persona doesn’t care at all about supporting consumers, past or present. If you’re not a potential enterprise-level customer, don’t bother contacting them, even if you made the mistake of paying $80 for this sensor. Digital Persona has completely dumped their consumer product line of software and they will not provide even the free trial version of their Enterprise-level software (that will work with this sensor) to a consumer.
Again: The Enterprise Workstation software WILL work with this sensor, if you can get a hold of it, but they won’t give you the trial unless you’re a business/enterprise customer.
My advice: Dump Digital Persona. Remind them that they need your business more than you need theirs. They stopped supporting us, so let’s stop supporting them.

Only marginally useful,
The unit works okay but not great. It often has difficulty reading fingerprints and the lack of software is a major fault. I was able to locate an old version, 4.01, of the Digital Persona Personal software from […] however it really only works for windows login. The software is meant for an HP system so it cannot be updated/upgraded. You can manually add a login but the software has difficulty recognizing a number of sites and has difficulty with which fields should be used.

Forget Digital Persona,
Just as Eric Putnam said, forget Digital Persona. My old HP notebook had a fingerprint reader built in w/ digital persona software. I had become dependant to the reader for logging into every web site that required a password. (Too many these days have too dumb of password requirements makes it very difficult to remember which one goes w/ which site and what the password is) So, I first got the cheap $14 one, worked only sometimes once I got the updated software. But it need to work ALL the time. So I decided to pony up for the more expensive Digital Persona and come to find out, there is on Digital Personal software, just drivers and developer software. Does no good to me. This is getting returned right away. Gonna try one more time w/ the Microsoft one, verify it has the correct software first.
